Pete Columbo built this jump for us the other day and we got to session the thing yesterday. Pete is part of the world class crew of park builders Mammoth has, and this jump did not disappoint. We rolled up to the jump around 11am and you could taste the anxiety in the air. The jump was big, but with all the snow cut out around the thing it looked ridiculously big. I had no idea how fast you would need to go so was not about to guinea pig the beast. Chris Benchetler and his Nimbus crew were there so I thought it was a no-brainer that those guys would be sending the thing before we new it. Apparently they were feeling the same as all of us, a little uncertain on the speed and not quite awake enough to start throwing your carcass over that huge pile of snow.
Greg Bretz showed up, took a quick glance at the jump, hiked up the hill and sent it. He had perfect speed and from there, the session was on. Since there was something like 14 riders I won’t give you a trick by trick account of the session, but unlike the other night, most everyone left satisfied. We’re going to try and session the jump for a sunset session tonight, hopefully the wind keeps itself in check and allows it. Thanks to Oren, Pete, Chris, Michael, Eric and Doug for all the help in making this happen.
Mammoth Night Shoot Take 1
So the crew is more or less back in town and we thought we’d celebrate Tyler’s sweet 16 with a sunset session on the middle jump in Main Park. The weather has been insanely nice the last few days, so the chances of us scoring one of those amazing Mammoth sunsets was looking good. And what do you know? The sun went down in a blaze of glory and made us all thankful for being in Mammoth.
Peter Morning was on hill shooting photos with his fancy flash set up and managed to get some decent documentation of the action. Greg Bretz is back in town after a season of halfpipe comps and is ripping harder than ever. Alex and Jared are continuing to work on their respective parts for Hot Laps and both put down some sick moves with their patented smooth styles. Chris Benchetler was claiming the he was ”so off of my game”, funny because he stomped countless 7’s and 5’s and didn’t lay a finger on the snow. The session was fun but I think we all left feeling like there was business left on the table. We’ll be back for round 2 soon.
Main is top notch with a triple jump line including middle and a double line for bottom. We went out with Mason Aguirre,Lonnie Kauk, Gabe Taylor, Cornell Agee, and Mitch Richmond.

June Mountain Has done it once again!!! Womens super park is sick. The girls have been killing it and so has the park crew. June has one of the best set ups i have ever seen. Everything from a hip, to a ball and chain, to a propaine stall with a huge channel gap which has a quarter pipe on the front side of the landing which the girls are all taking advantage of. I know all you guys wish you were that quarter pipe right now but the only way to get some action is to come on out to june and ride for yourself. Check back with us for some photo updates from Peter Morning who has been out at june all week and has some amazing stills. Thank you Jeremy Cooper and June crew for all your hard work. It truely has been an amazing experience.
