Today was the first clear in a week!! It has been storming here for the last week and we got 9 feet of snow!!!!!! Mammoth was able to open the top of the mountain after hours of avy control. we are lucky are to have some pull on the resort and get to tha backside a little before it opened to the public. we messed around in one zone for a while just waiting for the word from ski patrol to get back the real zone were we could build a big jump. but all in all it was very productive day and we were able to get some shots. tomorrow is supposed to be clear and then some more weather is coming in the afternoon. we will be hitting hard again tomorrow. But today was sick!!
Mammoth’s forecast is snow for the next week!!!!!

Look at this forecast!!!
Sometimes you just have to do it. I mean, when January rolls around we’re just itching to film some backcountry booters. But this year the skies have blessed us with less snow than usual which has made us have to look deeper than usual for good snow. I had good news and bad news for our crew. Good news, is that I found a sick new zone with all sorts of stuff to film that’s never been shot before. Bad news, is that it requires hiking for hours and hours on end. Luckily, everyone has been super motivated and we’ve gotten some stuff for the movie. If we keep this up we’ll be carrying substantially less weight by spring time.

Gabe is a machine!! He can break trail in pow and still hike so fast it's insane

The view out there is amazing as you can se from this photo!

Today we hiked to a spot that gabe Taylor has been scoping for a few weeks, we were just waiting on on enough snow. Today’s crew was Gabe Taylor and Peter Benchetler riding, while Kevin Westinbarger and my self were the documenters. It was a bit of a hike but well worth it because I can almost guarantee none of the stuff we did / plan on doin has ever been filmed before!! We will bs spending slot of time in this zone for sure. Here are some pics from the adventure.
The grand is over after 2 full half pipe competitions and a slope style competition. The second half pipe comp ended with Shaun white in 1st, Louie Vito in 2nd, and jj Thomas in 3rd. For girls it was Gretchen bleiler for 1st, Elena hight in 2nd, and Hannah Teter in 3rd. The slope style was really sick too! It’s crazy these days you have throw 12’s 10’s and 9’s in the same run to even have a chance! Mammoth team riders Shayne Pospisill, Lonnie Kauk and, Tyler flanagan competed. Shayne and Lonnie rode well having some trouble with the last jump making them not place top 3. Chaz guldemond took 1st, while Tyler flanagan took 2nd, and Brett esser took 3rd. All in all it was a very exciting week with insane snowboarding and even some making of history right here in mammoth!!! NBC was covering the event as well as Play Big Productions so watch out for the highlights edit goin on this website tomorrow! Here are some pics from the last couple days of the event.
Today was the second half pipe qualifiers! Mammoth team riders Jack and luke Mitrani qualified and will be competing tomorrow!! Tomorrows competition will decide the U.S. Olympic team. Frends riders Danny Davis and Scotty Lago also qualified as well. Sunday is the Slope style finals and Mammoth team riders Tyler Flanagan, Shayne pospisil, and Lonnie Kauk will be riding in that, it should be good. Sunday wraps up the Grand Prix in Mammoth and a very eventful week! Here are some more pics from the 1st half pipe finals day!
